Pentney Lake Cabin
HomeIn May 2009 I saw an advert for ¼ acre plots of land, on a lake in Norfolk about 70 miles north of my main home with outline planning permission to build lakeside log cabin-style holiday homes on it. I bought one plot prior to auction, have cleared the site and submitted a plan to the local council to build it; permission was granted in Feb 2010. The mortgage was provided for funding the project by the ever-helpful Harpenden Building Society. Hopefully it will be completed by July and is ahead of schedule. The 3 bedroom 2 storey cabin comes from a specialist manufacturer in Estonia. The foundations were dug and concrete poured on 13th April. The cabin arrived April 22nd and the build started next day. Here are some pics of the site, its development and plans of the cabin. The architect is Peter Gidney, project managers and builders are Anglia Log Cabins of Kings Lynn and the manufacturers Palmatin of Tallinn. The cost of the land was £45,000 plus legal fees and the cost to complete the house including a large garage and all fittings is estimated to be £135,000.
