1960 Triumph 500cc Speed Twin motorcycle
(shortly before I fell off it in the first week of ownership; ouch.
Happily now it's fixed & back being ridden) |

You too can wait patiently for seven years for a
Morgan +8 4.6 litre like this and then find out there's not enough room to
go grocery shopping. The ride is stiff and harsh but the performance
exhilarating! It has tremendous torque and only really
needs 2 gears. 0-60mph in under 5 seconds.
(Taken at a rally in France two years ago with my
ex-girl friend) |
1955 BSA B31 350cc single motorcycle bought
seven years ago: top speed around 70mph. Not fast but
starts first kick & is super-reliable. My favourite bike. |

My 1951 MG TD Midget in the Welsh valleys en route for a 1000 mile
trip 6 year ago around Ireland. This trip was published in the MG T Register Year Book of
1998. This car has now been sold as I did not have enough room for it. |
| This is my 1980 Yamaha XS750F Triple. I bought it
new when working in Canada, took it back to England and forgot about it
for 13 years. I put it back on the road 8 years ago. |

My latest acquisition: just
perfect for a big family trip with the dog or extended shopping spree. A
Rover 'P4' 95 from 1964, first owner: British Admiral Godfrey. He was Ian
Fleming's boss in WW2 and responsible for the Enigma decoding project &
immortalised as 'M' in James Bond. I found this secret switch under the
driver's seat so one day I'm going to press it while being chased by
the cops.....
|
| And what does all this cost? Surprisingly most
of these are fairly cheap to run. The insurance on my Rover is just £95
($170) a year for $7000 value and 5000 annual mileage All three motorcycles
are on a joint insurance policy that costs just over £90 ($170) per
annum. What about license sticker/road tax? Well in UK any vehicle
registered before 1972 is totally free! Mind you we pay $7 a gallon for
gas (petrol) in UK..... |
